Why should we learn Chinese Reading and Writing?


So I can speak the Chinese language, Mandarin or Cantonese, is that enough for communication and understanding in China? They answer is No! It is not enough for you, maybe you can survive in China or Hong Kong, but this is not the best and most conformable situation you want to see and experience, there are a few reasons I would like to tell you why you must learn Chinese reading and Writing.


Chinese Characters is super meaningful


Chinese character is the soul of Chinese language! Meanings are behind each Chinese characters and almost every character has a story, some students can speak Chinese language, but they can never read or write it. Is learning Chinese characters difficult? I don't think so, I think it is fun and meaningful as Chinese character means a lot in Chinese language!


Learning Chinese characters is easier than learning the pronunciation or Pinyin


Are you kidding me?! No, I am not. Believe me, recognizing Chinese characters are way easier than perfectly grasp the pinyin in Chinese, especially when the tone changes all the time, it drives foreign learner crazy, we all know that Mandarin has 4 tones, and Cantonese even more, it has 6 tones, to understand the subtle difference between these tones are so hard! Read Chinese menu easily when you are in Mainland China or Hong Kong

No, not all menus in Chinese restaurants have an English translation, you don't want to eat the wrong things, you need to understand a little bit of Chinese characters, make sure you know what you are ordering, fish 魚, beef 牛肉, pork 豬肉, chicken 雞 or vegetables 蔬菜? Knowing these words will help you a lot in Chinese food market, those are  very important survival Characters.

Chinese Writing Course - Beginner (HSK Level 1 to 2)


Introduction: It is designed for students who are eager to learn written Chinese with basic Chinese knowledge. Students will be exposed to a wide range of characters based on approximately 600 vocabulary items with related patterns and expressions.


Objectives:  After this 60 hours beginner course, student are expected to recognize 10 types of Chinese radicals, 300 Chinese characters, be able to read short stories and write simple sentences.


Requirement: Student with nothing or very limited Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese.

Chinese Writing Course - Intermediate (HSK Level 3 to 4)


Introduction: It is designed for students who have completed Elementary written course or with equivalent competence in Chinese writing, emphasizing reading skills and writing comprehension, with more exposure to grammar points.

Students will be exposed to more terms and expressions in Chinese characters based on approximately 1000 additional vocabulary items and related patterns and expressions. Students will be trained to have language proficiency at sentence level.

Requirement: Students who pass the Mandarin/Cantonese beginner writing course.

Students are expected to know around 1500 to 2000 intermediate level Chinese Characters in the 60 hours lessons which provide materials to help student to smooth their reading and writing skills. They won't have any problem when reading intermediate level Chinese stories and letters.


Chinese Writing Course - Advanced (HSK Level 5 to 6)


Introduction: It is designed for students who have completed Intermediate written course or with equivalent competence in Chinese writing. Students will be exposed to a wide range of expressions based on approximately 3000 to 4000 additional vocabulary items with related patterns and expressions.

Objectives:  After the 60 hours drill lesson, student will master Chinese reading and writing skills! They are expected to read and write fluently, accurately, and native likely.


Requirement: Student with Intermediate level Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese.


Method of teaching: Reading articles, news, practice reading and writing, writing diaries.
